What we can provide

Stornoway Port offers a wide range of modern facilities and provides comprehensive support services to port users

Fresh Water is available via hose connections from piers 1,2,3, and Esplanade Quay. Vessels requiring fresh water should contact Stornoway Harbour on VHF channel 12.

The master of a ship bound for the Port of Stornoway, other than a ship in regular scheduled service, is required to notify the Port of Stornoway of delivery of waste and cargo residues: (This will be recorded in the CERS workbook, which is a mandatory reporting system required by the MCA)

The Port of Stornoway provides reception facilities for ship–generated garbage wastes which include the following:

  • Plastic
  • Food waste (including International Catering Waste)
  • Ground-down paper products, rags, glass, metal, bottles, crockery etc.
  • Cargo residues, paper products, rags, glass, metal, bottles, crockery etc.
  • Dunnage, lining or package materials

The Port of Stornoway provides enclosed garbage skips on the piers. More skips can be arranged on request by contacting Stornoway Harbour on VHF channel 12 or phoning 01851 702688.

The Port of Stornoway has a 28,000 litre oily waste tank with pipeline to south end of pier. Connections available on east/west side of pier 3. Should any vessel requite to discharge Oily waste they should notify Stornoway Harbour or contact their agent.

Large vessels are bunkered by road tankers at No.3 Pier, No.2 Pier and Esplanade Quay. There is a fuelling facility at the northend of Esplanade Quay, operated by Stornoway Port on behalf of the local authority, for fuelling fishing vessels and leisure craft.

The main marine fuel distributors in Stornoway are: Scottish Fuels and Highland Fuels Ltd. Any vessels taking bunkers via road tanker should complete a bunker delivery declaration.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has established a marine fuelling facility at Esplanade Quay. The system is ‘self-service’ and requires all users to have pre-arranged key holder accounts with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
Visitors not registered with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar may be able to obtain fuel on completion of the Stornoway Port Authority registration form. Please contact Stornoway Port Office for assistance.

The Port operates an Ice Plant producing flake ice, with a 15t/day production rate and a 20t storage capacity.

Ice is generally available upon request, but should if possible be ordered in advance.
