Stornoway Port Authority, together with The Swan Trust and Sail Training Shetland, is inviting local young people aged 14-24 to experience a sail training taster day aboard Swan.
Taking place on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June 2022, these days will cover everything trainees would experience on a longer sail training experience, and highlight the opportunities for taking part in The Tall Ships Races which is returning to Scotland in 2023, when Lerwick Harbour will be a Host Port.
Absolutely no sailing experience is required to take part, just a willingness to pitch in and work as a team. With a new set of trainees each day, there will be 20 places on offer.
Absolutely no sailing experience is needed to take part, just a keen sense of adventure and a willingness to try something new.
Trainees will work under the guidance of the Swan crew to learn a wide range of hands-on skills, such as watch-keeping, setting sails and other domestic duties which they will share during their time onboard.
